Ozyaki is a very new food establishment offering healthy and affordable grilled skewers in the heart of Melbourne CBD. We have currently filled up our positions for our Elizabeth Street Outlet. However, you are more than welcome to submit your expression of interest, and we will get in touch with you if and when there are vacancies as our small team is growing. Previous experience in working at fast-food restaurants will be beneficial although newcomers are also encouraged to apply. Duties vary depending on positions, though you will generally involve in stages of food preparation and following hygiene and OH&S safety regulations.

JAPANESE CHEF

 Applicants must have at least two years of relevant work experience as a chef. Having previous experience in Japanese cuisine and have a good understanding of Japanese salads, preparation and cooking of Yakitori will be extremely valuable to the role.

Duties include but not limited to;

  • oversee all stages of food preparation
  • advise menu development and food costing
  • lead and manage kitchen staff
  • manage inventory and ordering supplies
  • communicate with FOH and servers
  • enforce hygiene and OH&S safety regulations

The successful applicant must be available to begin in June 2020 and needs to be available for at least one day during weekends. 

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Certificate III or IV in commercial cookery plus two years of full-time experience working as a chef
  • Australian working rights

Duties involved in the role include overseeing all stages of food preparation, managing inventory and supplies, maintaining regular communication with BOH and servers regarding menu planning, recipes, food costing, food preparation, quality assurance, and enforcing hygiene and OH&S safety regulations.

COOKS

Join our BOH team at our Elizabeth Street outlet, which is on a busy CBD location operating 7 days a week serving lunch and dinner.

Previous experience in working at fast-food restaurants will be beneficial although newcomers are also encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants should have flexible working hours; however, we will try to allocate suitable shifts for the right applicants.

Duties include but not limited to;

  • following instructions and guidance of the senior chefs
  • adhering to OH&S and safety guidelines strictly
  • following the recipes and procedures as described 
  • cleaning works as required
  • be responsible, punctual and presentable

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Food handlers’ certificate (Use hygienic Practices for Food Safety – SITXFSA001) is essential
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (optional)
  • Good knife skills
  • ability to stay calm and work under a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment
  • have Australian working rights
Duties involved in the role include all stages of food preparation from prep to cooking, maintaining regular communication with BOH and servers, following recipes, food preparation, quality assurance, and following the hygiene and OH&S safety regulations.
Chef

CASHIER SERVER

Join our team at the Elizabeth Street outlet either as a Casual or a permanent Part-Time/Full-Timer. We are on a busy CBD location operating 7 days a week serving lunch and dinner.

This role will be customer-facing from taking orders to receiving cash and electronic payments, operating the restaurant POS system, preparation of cooked food and performing other cashier duties.

Previous experience in working at fast-food restaurants or QSR will be beneficial although newcomers are also encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants should have flexible working hours and be available at least one day at weekends; however, we will try to allocate suitable shifts for the right applicants.

Duties include but not limited to;

  • operating the POS machine, and cashier duties
  • accurately and efficiently taking and preparation of orders
  • provide excellent customer service 
  • following instructions and guidance of the senior restaurant staff
  • adhering to OH&S and safety guidelines strictly
  • cleaning works as required

The successful applicants must be available to begin in June 2020.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • excellent communication skills, solid command of English and exceptional personal presentation
  • an ability to handle POS machines and take on cashier duties 
  • have excellent customer service orientated attitude
  • an experience working in a fast-paced retail environment will be highly valuable though not essential
  • be responsible, punctual and have a strong drive to excel and hit the sales targets
  • an ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
  • an ability to show initiative and highly passionate about hospitality
  • a solid understanding of allergens and dietary requirements
  • preferably holds the food handlers’ certificate (Use hygienic Practices for Food Safety – SITXFSA001) 
  • have Australian working rights
